Great recipes, with easy-to-follow directions

Before getting this book, I'd never even heard of the 5:2 diet. I'd been looking for ways to diet for a while, but this one intrigued me. Only really dieting or fasting for two days a week? Certainly doable, and it doesn't force you to completely cut out those guilty pleasures. But of course, what are you going to eat that only has 500 calories or less in one day?
This book is really great for those who want to make a small meal satisfying. A lot of the ingredients used are low in calories, but flavorful. The pictures look tantalizing, but simple - it never looks like you'll have to suddenly become a master chef to use this book. The measurements are both in American and Metric units, which makes it so much easier for Americans who want to join this diet because the majority of books I've seen on this subject only use Metric. The directions are easy to follow, and no recipe seems like a hassle to make; on the contrary, a lot of them are really fun to make. And there are so many, so you never feel limited to just a few options per meal. White also gives vegetarian options for a lot of the recipes, along with the new caloric value for the meal.
What I really like is how White gives a breakdown of the calorie count. That way, if you do anything to the recipe (maybe you don't like mushrooms, or you substitute the chicken for tofu), you know exactly how many calories need to be subtracted or added for each individual item. Very useful in a cookbook, as I am used to only getting the nutritional information per serving, and not per ingredient. The book is also organized in "[X] calories or less" categories, which are perfect for deciding if you want a larger breakfast, or a larger dinner, and planning your meals accordingly.
I am glad that I have found this book, and I look forward to more thoroughly working my way through all of its recipes.

Great book and Great Read

I am always looking for ways to manage my weight. I had heard to the 5:2 diet but did not really understand it principles or food menu. So this book intrigued me. The author gives a quick explanation of the plan and tells you how use the recipes in the book. The author shows you the difference between American and Metric measurements and kitchen essentials. I love the vegetarian options because that is what my life style eating choices are now. The book has great graphics and charts. The sample calorie examples vary from 500 to 100 calories—great variety. The recipes are very detailed and precise. The author includes a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options-this is a great resource for weight management. Great book and Great Read.
