People live in misery and pain because of the stories, judgments and limiting beliefs we acquire as we grow from childhood into adulthood. Dreaming Heaven is an outstanding book that allows you to journal your way to a new beginning. No matter what the issue, the pain or inability to know what to do next. Dreaming Heaven takes you gently by the hand and draws you into exercises that allow you to discover what has been inside you from birth. It teaches you to recognize that each of us creates our perceptions of the world and live alone. The good and bad news about this insight is that nothing is permanent, and each of us can remap our world to be the way we desire and keep changing it at will. No one or no circumstance has control of us and each of use, using Dreaming Heaven, can dream Heaven on earth, here and Now. I highly recommend this book. It is outstanding.

Old Jungle Saying "Hermes does the Phanton the right way!

The Phantom Volume 7 1946-1947 is part of Hermes Press epic reprinting of the Phantom whom some consider to be the FIRST costumed hero of the comics and this volume has several stories inside:
Princess Valerie, a lost little girl is really the princess of a faraway land and some in that land want her to stay away, permanently! They will try to kill her anyway they can, leaving her to die in the jungle; can the Phantom help the girl and save the kingdom?
Queen Asta is another lost kingdom wicked queen that is hurting the Phantoms friends, can he save them, free the kingdom and withstand the evil Queen or resist her charms as she tries to seduce him into joining her?
Mister Hog looks like a hog and acts like a pig, he is a blackmailer and criminal mastermind-does he even have Diana Palmer in his gang? Can the Phantom save Diana from the Hog and his gang?
Romance and Vesta Pirate Kerry seems like a lost girl but is actually a key in a band of pirates and hijackers, can the Phantom catch the gang and bring them to justice, even when he faces the gang alone, on their ship, on the high seas? And can he get back to Diana before she marries someone else? We see Diana in her wedding gowned on her wedding day, so it does not look good for Kit Walker!
Long time readers know the answer to all these questions is YES! The Ghost Who Walks will out think, outwit, outfight and scare the bad guys and girls into sub-mission otherwise the strip would not have lasted so long. How he does it and how he overcomes great odds is part of the enjoyment of this classic strip.
This volume’s extra continues the discussion and debate over the size and type of the strips reprinted inside. They tell us from here on out they have proofs for all the strips in full size and perhaps this will allow us to see more volumes each year. We have many years still to go! And this long time Phantom reader looks forward to each and every one. We usually know how the story is going to go but it is a credit to Falk and the artists that it is so much fun getting there.
I hope the future essays will tell us more about the strip and the artists. Hermes keep them coming!

Another Fine "Edition" to the Series

Hermes Press continues their Herculean task of restoring and reprinting THE PHANTOM dailies, and they're doing a phenomenal job, given the fact that not even King Features Syndicate has all of the original prints.

Having purchased numerous PHANTOM reprints over the last few decades, this series of reproductions is definitely the most loving and painstaking effort to come along. Hopefully, the fact that Hermes now possesses a full set of prints going through1994 means they have plans to continue this project for some time to come. It does my heart good to see The Ghost Who Walks finally given the respect he deserves.

Over 300 pages of great Phantom stories

First off there seems to be a debate rising about the format and the amount of white space on the pages. As publisher Daniel Herman explains in an text piece good source material for these rare 1946 and 1947 strips was hard to come by forcing Hermes Press to use both dailies from the the full size strips and the truncated strips some papers ran because of the War caused paper shortage. If you look on page 258 and 259 for example you can see the two different sizes in comparison. Short of waiting and locating only full size strips I don't see how this white space problem could have been avoided. Another complaint is about the shiny glossy paper used by Hermes Press. Personally I have zero complaints about that, I think that is personnel choice . I know I dislike it when publishers use off-white or tan colored paper to make the strips look aged or closer to their pulpy originals.

In summation "No" these are not quite matching the quality of those put out by The American Library Of Comics .But "Yes" they have done a good job at restoration and I will treasure having this volume in my library. The Phantom is America's first costumed super-hero and these stories are a ton of fun.

The first story about a brave little girl is called PRINCESS VALERIE. She is abducted by conspirators to her grandfathers throne. This is a charming story. When Valerie is put in a cannibals pot to simmer she complains that they don't know how to give a little girl a bath correctly. This is the last daily strip continuity that Ray Moore (the Phantom's first artist ) would work on because of the nerve damaged he received in World War 2.

Starting with QUEEN ASTRA OF TRONDELAY Wilson McCoy would work solo on the strip. This is another jungle adventure with a spoiled and cruel queen who abducts a young man on the eve of his wedding. Later she develops a crush on The Phantom himself.

In the story MISTER HOG the ghost who walks returns to the USA to pursue his love interest in Diane Palmer . But Diane has been tricked into working for Mister Hog, a hideous Crime Boss. While this is am entertaining story the quality of the reproductions for this story varies greatly with some of the strips look quite poor and some feature fuzzy line work.

ROMANCE AND THE VESTAL PIRATES is the final story of the volume and the longest, It covers over a hundred pages and ran for eight months. It is also my favorite of the volume. It starts with a romantic soap opera story and then finishes with another romantic soapy ending. In the middle there is an exciting adventure story involving modern day pirates on a yacht. The story demonstrates the wide range of Lee Falk's writing skills jumping from humor to romance to action and adventure.

As a long time collector of The Phantom I have quite the collection of The Frew Comic Books which reprint the classic strips. Unlike the earlier volumes in which I had read most of those stories I found all of these quite new to me. I am delighted that this series is being reprinted comprehensively in a deluxe Hard Cover format. Publisher Daniel Herman promises they have excellent source material for the remaining decades of strips. I know I will be on board and excited for each release.

Certainly recommend.

From the first read I wanted to get the relevant information fast. Now I am studying it. I also read reviews and have found little that can refute the basic premise and technical opinions. There is some difference of opinion on cell formation, but I don't think its significant, if Young is wrong, well no one is perfect. Nutrition as we know it, is not exact nor is it the same for everyone. We all vary slightly. To those whom have given more negative reviews I would ask, what did you expect?. Do not expect a glove fit of any nutrition book. To get the best results you should cut sugar, dairy, meat (except fish), and yeast to virtually zero and take mineral and other supplements. It may sound extreme, but the case studies are compelling. Certainly more research is needed. In the meantime, my own personal experience backs it up following the diet loosely (and seeking energy more than weight loss) I lost four inches of my waist in eight weeks and lost my asthma. This was a happy by product of seeking more energy. I would certainly recommend using the key health supplements in the book.

I was searching on the internet about a good alkaline diet and I found this book, I purchased it, and this book is absolutely fantastic I have suffered from cystitis, depression, dry skin, feeling cold all the time, and I needed to exercise often to keep my mood up. I thought I had a healthy diet, but this book has highlighted how my diet has been causing my problems. The book is all about how the balances of alkalizing/acidifying foods that we eat affect our internal acidity levels, if our body gets overly acidic, things go wrong and some people are more susceptible than others. Within a few days of following this more sensible approach to food, I have felt better. Some symptoms have re-emerged, but this is because of the expulsion of the acid. I feel calmer (despite a very busy life) and buoyant for the first time in year, and I feel so satisfied by all meals, and the weight is dropping off even though I didn't set out to lose weight.

Great recipes!

This is the best book I've ever read on the impact of diet on health. Really interesting and full of great advice and recipes. The diet includes all types of foods, but in different proportions, I love this because it is not as restricting as other books have advised the alkaline diet to be. I like this approach because, by eating all types of food you get the whole range of nutrients the body needs to function properly. This wonderful book has all the reader needs to take control of his/her body and attain a good state of health and mental well-being. I have found this book really helpful in aiding me to eat healthier and follow the alkaline diet.

Great illustration

In this graphic novel, the heroine starts off with what seems to be a job using a canoe as a ferry/garbage scow. I say it's a canoe because she's using a single-bladed canoe style paddle. The craft could be a gondola propelled by a pole. Neither style of craft makes sense in the bay of a harbor town. She needs a rowboat. Then it turns out the heroin has worked as a ship captain, a highly skilled occupation.??? Why would a ship master work as a ferryman/woman/trash collector? It doesn't make sense to me. Shipmasters, even discredited ones, have skills to valuable too waste in trash collection. She could always work as a privateer. Her society seems to have a custom similar to the tribute system used in Hunger Games, but I don't understand why a society would send out ship masters to die. Despite my quibbles regarding portrayal of seafaring, I love the illustration. It's black and white line art with a fresh and vibrant style. I'm highly impressed with Stacie Arellano's art and look forward to more from her.

Fantastic first graphic novel

This is a wonderful fantasy graphic novel. It sets the tone within the first few pages and moves at a rapid pace. There were a couple of stutters along the way, but they don't stick out enough to be memorable or alter the flow of the story.

The inclusion of the 24 Hour Comic is great addition. It delineates the progression of skills and talent that develop over the course of creating a twenty four page story over the course of a commensurate twenty four hour period.

I heartily applaud Stacie Arellano for taking the brave risk of producing her own work and look forward to future volumes of Tribute Waters.

Quite enjoyable

I always quite like these HP books in between my Regencies. This one is about an H who decides to wed the h in revenge for her late brother's part in his sister's death. The poor h had been divorced by her first husband for not being able to produce an heir for him. The H blackmails the h into wedding him by using her late brothers gambling debts as leverage. The h agrees because she wants to spare her father more heartache as he hasn't been well and the H has also promised to give her back shares in her father's company that her brother had gambled away. He wants a mother for his late sister's young son and he also wants the h to give him children (he has no idea that she hasn't been able to have children). Certain things are inevitable in a story like this but I enjoyed it.

not what I expected

I'm not sure what I really thought about this book. The sexual tension was apparent from the very beginning and was a little weird to read in the first chapter. I would have liked to read more about Robin and Ceasear (not sure I spelled his name right) and learned about their personalities instead of how they responded to each other sexually. It certainly was not a bad read, just not something I'll read a second time.

Really enjoyed this book. The character development and chemistry was fantastic. Though I noticed that almost all Mills and Boons endings are short and abrupt. Wish it wasn't like that but this was more bearable than most.
I also loved that there was an epilogue, and a lovely one at that.

Five years previously, Brianna Douglas was nanny to a wealthy Argentine couple when she met aristocrat & famous polo player Pascual Dominguez and fell in love with him. At their engagement party, Brianna sees Pascual kissing his super model ex very ardently so she leaves the country but leaves him a Dear John letter saying she can't marry him. Fast forward five years & Brianna has a son & a failing business. She goes on a make or break job serving several millionaires on a business weekend. She is horrified when the guest of honor turns out to be her ex fiancée Pascual. During that weekend Pascual learns the truth on why Brianna left him & broke their engagement. A good read for a lazy weekend.

When genetics and lifestyle seemed to seal her faith, she said no, that she had a better way. ...Selina tumbled backward, a shimmering pendant in one hand, the light crystal in the other." Good artwork, well-formatted for kindle so you don't miss a word of the dialogue, and what could be an interesting storyline involving what appears to be joined forces of armored elves and orcs fighting off the creatures of darkness. It's a decent graphic novel with a cliffhanger ending, but probably best you begin with Volume 1 so as to hopefully get a better understanding of the plot, and here's hoping that there will be a Volume 3 to follow...

Good fun, but the lost issues hurt!

First of all, yes, you're reading the issue numbers correctly. They just skipped out on six issues or so.

That means we've lost the following: The last bits of Japanese adventuring (enh), some llama reincarnation thing I never read (whatever), the Middle East story that leads into the Future arc further down the road (booooo!), and the fanservice-heavy Stump Asteroid rematch (FREAKING BOOOO!).

That's why, if you're not paying attention to issue numbers, it just looks like Cudley kidnapped them from Japan and dumped them into another Mutanimals crossover.

Get past that, and you're left with more of the typical Archie Turtles fare: Lots of neat but clumsily set up little action bits (the first fights in particular are clever, even if the artist shift from Turtles to Mutanimals is jarring), cute character moments (check out Ninjara getting a crush on Dreadmon), and oh god all the preachiness in the world ever (HAY GUYS RAINFORESTS, RAINFORESTS OKAY?).

The loss of the Stump rematch isn't as plot-important as the Middle East arc, but it's still a big loss. That issue is TMNTA at its best - shamelessly silly, with good character moments for the whole gang (including Ninjara and Splinter), and with fairly well-drawn and colorful action. It also doesn't waste page space to preach at you, which is a huge bonus in this series. Seek out the issue (#37, I believe) if you haven't read it.

In the meantime, we're left with this, which is a pretty good representation of what works and what doesn't work about the TMNTA series. If you've enjoyed it so far, you're still gonna enjoy it. If you're collecting these for nostalgia/completionism, the lost issues are gonna hurt.
