"A long time ago, the Rose Knights sinned..." No spoilers. Pacing issues, but overall, another solid volume.
By Leaf
From my Goodreads:
So, we finally get on with the PLOT. Yes, after that comedy filled volume 1 that introduced our Rose Knights, let us spend some time with them and teased us with an actual plot, we finally get some action.
Anise's dad is coming home for real this time. And she still hasn't found her choker! But...it seems someone knows where it is but won't tell Anise.(And I was NOT expecting who it was.) Then, Haruto Kisugi, a transfer student shows up and it turns out he and Anise were best friends at another school. And he's really good looking too... And it's extremely obvious that he's up to no good.
Without spoiling, Anise and her Rose Knights "sinned" against one of the roses to seal away the Demon Lord that was mentioned in volume 1. And this tradition has been happening over and over again and now Anise and her knights are faced with this same task. We learn a little more about it, the seal, and what the purpose of the Rose Knights is. It is not pretty. Anise wants to find another way to seal up the Demon Lord, but to do so, she must "create a true contract" with her knights. And immediately after Anise tells Tenjo this, he swoops in for a kiss. Of course, thankfully, Anise won't have it. Sure, she had a crush on him before but she no longer sees him that way.
SO, with that panel, I am pretty sure she has to get all of her knights to fall for her and then kiss them to make a true contract. And they don't have a lot of time, which is why the "Society" (people who govern this stuff, I guess) wants to keep on with their tradition, no matter how messed up that is.
If it does go this route, I can't say I will be displeased. After all, this is shoujo and a reverse harem. And that is what I signed up for! And the art is gorgeous too. Anise better handle her harem like a boss. Yona from Akatsuki no Yona is handling hers like a boss.
I look forward to volume 3 of Kiss of the Rose Princess. I did notice though that the story would suddenly veer off to action or sudden romantic-thingy stuff and then the tone would shift from doki-doki to serious and depressing to action and then depressing again. So, there are pacing issues here, and the volume ends on a disturbing/depressing tone after some revelations. And we still don't know a whole lot about the "Society" and how they came into existence. Well, we got a vague explanation but I would love to know some more. Well, we cannot expect TOO much from a comedy, reverse harem, shoujo...haha oh well.

Very good
By Jude
~4/5
So much was revealed in this volume! I was not expecting this huge development, this early.
I knew there was a reason I liked this series from the first volume. The art is still gorgeous, and easier to follow. I love the characters. Anise is a pretty good heroine, strong and stubborn. Her gang of boys are also very entertaining; Kaede is the clear winner here, and I enjoy his banter with Anise. Mitsuru’s masochistic streak is funny, and Mutsuki is still quiet and a loner. I find Seiran adorable, and am devastated by the development made about him in this volume. Which is one reason why I like Anise’s personality here.
We meet a new character here, who I already disagree with hugely. Then there’s her father… On the other hand, Itsushi got some nice development.
I love where the plot is going; it’s getting so serious, so quick! I wasn’t expecting this, and it makes me excited to see where it goes next. The characters and the development of everything is fantastic; the humor is pretty good. The art is so pretty, and the color pages are just so, so pretty.
This has quickly become a must-follow series, and I can’t wait for the next one.

Cute and Powerful
By Shelby
I really like how this manga is giving an average girl strength and ability. Shows promise for an amazing ending to their tale! I can't wait to read more! (I'm also ready for possibly a romance to build?)
