The Best Series Of Sinestro Stories I have Read Yet...Unbelievably Good and Worth The Wait!

Sinestro is back and seeking redemption---or is he? Sinestro returns from his self-imposed exile, lured back into the fold by the tantalizingly sexy Lyssa Drak with news that isolated groups of Korrugarians somehow survived the destruction of his home planet. ***Spoiler Alert***A reinvigorated Sinestro forcibly wrests control of the Yellow Lanterns from its current steward (the formidable Arkillo) and immediately sets out to rescue and rehabilitate as many of his former planetary inhabitants as possible. The stage is set for our favorite antihero to begin his long process of redemption, but as is often the case with Sinestro things never quite turn out the way he intends them to. Nevertheless, Sinestro and his corps of Yellow Lanterns begin the long process of nation building with the Korrugarian survivors on a conveniently habitable planet nearby. Sinestro seems determined to avoid many of the mistakes he made in the past. Unfortunately, old habits die hard, and our tyrannical antihero remains determined to bring about order and justice to his new corner of the universe in his own way. His own people fear him--hate him actually--and rather than attempt to win over their collective hearts and minds Sinestro instead dismisses their protests and resumes his self-appointed role as savior and de-facto ruler of the Korrugarian survivors. Somewhat predictably, Sinestro views his new role as that of a shepherd tending a flock or errant, ungrateful sheep. My favorite bit of dialog in the story came when Sinestro crossed paths with Hal Jordan midway through the series. Neither Sinestro nor Hal Jordan were particularly happy to see one another, and after a few punches were thrown at each other for old times sake, Sinestro reluctantly agreed to listen to Hal Jordan's message. Jordan reported that the Green Lanterns would be keeping an close eye on Sinestro and his corps for reasons that were obvious to all but Sinestro. Jordan also offered Sinestro a few prophetic words of wisdom at the end of their dialog, which Sinestro predictably ignored. How dare Jordan lecture HIM on ethics and the dangers of reckless behavior?! Karma soon enough catches up with the Yellow Lanterns, forcing Sinestro to make hard choices that regrettably lead to pain, profound loss, and sorrow at the end of this new series of adventures. But Sinestro never gives up and will once again attempt to use his might to make things right! The stories within this volume flow together nicely, and are very well written. The art work is astoundingly good--5 stars in a 5 star rating system! One regret I have in this volume is that Sinestro seems incapable of patching up his former friendship with Hal Jordan, but perhaps too much water has passed under the bridge for a rapprochement to happen anytime soon. It would also be great if he could have some form of relationship with his daughter Soranik Natu---but I digress..This was an excellent read and I highly recommend it for any fan of the Green Lantern Universe who believes Sinestro is at heart a well-meaning megalomaniac who is tragically misunderstood.

Sinestro!

Sinestro is a character I've recently ranked as one of my favorites ever since I read GL: Rebirth and the first 3 volumes of the new 52 Green Lantern books. He is an interesting, complex, and sympathetic villian I just couldn't get enough of. Thankfully I discovered his solo series in paperback form and bought it right away. This collection is very novice friendly thanks to the addition of the special edition "villian month" issue released a couple of years ago. That issue basically tells the story of Sinestro from the beginning until now, so anyone who isn't familiar can jump right in.
Doing a solo villian title is a daunting task, but writer Cullen Bunn manages to build off of Geoff Johns work very well and the regular artist, Dave Eaglesham equally impresses with his great style. If you are even vaguely interested in the Green Lantern mythology or just want to read a great story about a great villian, I'd recommend this book any day of the week.

Gonna Get volume 2 on its release day!!!

Alright, this book I enjoyed BIG TIME! So far Sinestro feels to me like a well thought out villain/hero on par with the Greats! I had a feeling this book was gonna be Great and it was.
NO SPOILERS: This book starts off with the Perplexity of characterizing Sinestro as somewhat of an enigma as far as him being hero or villain. He is re finding himself which leads into his adventure. As I have said about a lot of DC New 52 titles lately; it seems like big movie screenplay is taking place here for a lot of the stories. GOOD! Bring it on.
This book is darker in nature than would be expected I suppose, along the ranks of the Red Lanterns mostly. Very adult themes in the means of characterization and depth. If you have an incline for liking Sinestro and wish to see a good re launch for him, then I recommend copping this book!
