A Big Step Up

The second volume of Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire is an improvement over the first. There are still issues, specifically with the stiffness of the art, but the story kicks into high gear in this volume, and the characters continue to grow.
As I said in my review of the first volume, the art can be an issue sometimes. While most of the characters have a more natural flow to them (although facial expressions can be a bit on the over the top side), certain characters, namely the character of Bindi, have a very stiff and awkward quality to them. While the odd poses are nowhere near as severe as in the first book, there are a few awkward panels. Also, the white borders around the characters continue to be an issue. The action scenes are handled very well, though, and everything is clear and clean and easy to follow. This is a big positive for a book as action heavy as this is.
So, while the art can be problematic, the story and the characters are much better handled in this volume. Everyone starts to feel more fleshed out, including Sister Gracia. Her character development, and the revelation as to why people are so loyal to her, gives the story, and the stakes, just enough weight to keep the reader invested. Also, unlike in the last book, there is only one cut away to Chris Redfield and his crew in this book, and it is handled much better, coming at a more natural point in the story.
Overall, this series continues to improve, and the ending of this volume made me pre-order the third volume already. The series has some potential, and now that the stakes are even higher, I can't wait to see how things play out.

seems like a story surrounded by mystery

seems like a story surrounded by mystery. It was a lot of fun to read and I had a good time learning about the plot in the newest entry to resident evil. I highly recommend this to any resident evil fans and I hope you enjoy the manga as much as I do.
